DJM-REC allows you to record the signal directly out of a selection of Pioneer mixers.
Pioneer DJ has announced a new app for recording DJ mixes called DJM-REC.
Available for iOS devices, the app connects via USB to the Send/Return output located on the top side of Pioneer's DJM-TOUR1, DJM-900NXS2, DJM-750MK2 and DJM-450 mixers. The internal limiter in the mixer can be controlled from your device, allowing you to avoid clipping the signal. Timestamps are automatically placed along the file as the app detects fader movements on the mixer, which makes it easier to create tracklists. There's also a Loudness control for compressing dynamics and a Sub Bass slider for enhancing low frequencies.
DJM-REC allows you to upload your mix to Dropbox, SoundCloud or Mixcloud directly from the app or livestream the recording on various social media platforms. You will need to update the firmware on the DJ mixer in order to use the app. It's currently free on the App Store for 30 days.
The Pioneer DJ DJM-REC app is available free for a limited time. The usual retail price is £9.99.
